Sentence Magazine: The Movie

A magazine I designed and got mocked up for a uni assignment. Had lots of fun taking all the photos for this. Big thanks to Peter for helping me photograph and video the spreads. Those photos of the spreads (so you can actually see it properly) are coming soon to a blog post near you.

Look! I’m paying attention

So, sitting in a lecture a while back, and then this pops up on the screen. So I say, “Hey, it’s Steve!” (on the right). And then someone’s like, “And that’s you.” And I’m like, “Oh yeah!”

Great story, huh?

Why is there a photo of the back of my head watching a lecture in a lecture presentation (in fact, in every presentation since)? I do not know. Why am I posting it here? Because it’s better than doing homework.

Random Song #6

Hercules and Love Affair - Blind (Live)

I think I can now say that this is my favourite song of 2008. Antony Hegarty does the vocals for the album version of this, but their live singer Nomi (who also appears on the album), does a great job. I’m praying they play a sideshow during the upcoming NeverEverLand festival!

I’m a sucker for deluxe editions…

Sigur rós’ fifth album, Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust, was released a few months back.. and the deluxe edition of the album is finally out. A super nice, and much larger than I expected, individually numbered book full of beautiful photos, a unique film negative strip from their recent video clip and a full list of everyone who pre-ordered the book to say thanks to the fans. Plus of course, the CD and a documentary DVD or something (haven’t watched it yet).

Skeletal Lamping horsie!

Yes! A poster to rival my Arcade Fire die cut lenticular Neon Bible!

of Montreal has released a number of different formats for their latest album, Skeletal Lamping, including a bag, a paper lantern, vinyl stickers… with each of which you get a download of the album. Oh, and there’s a “regular” CD release as well, that folds up into, um, something (video), and a 2LP vinyl which I got my hands on yesterday. And what is inside this vinyl package is the totally awesomely large die cut horse illustration poster you can see above! It’s like A1 at least!

In other news, the winner of that Bloc Party comp has been announced.

Did I mention…

…that Christmas is around the corner?

“It was an emotional experience..”

A video with an audio feed direct from Britney Spear’s microphone, revealing how she really sounds. It’s entertaining to say the least. Also includes an audio clip of her talking at the end that makes me laugh. “It was beautiful y’all!”

(Yes, I am watching this instead of doing homework, when assessment is right around the corner.)

Bloc Party poster comp entries

So I did some (and by some, I mean 4) entries for a Bloc Party tour poster competition. There didn’t seem to be a limit on how many you could enter, but only 2 made it into the entry gallery (which you can see here).

These first two made it in, and the second two didn’t (though I think I prefer the second two):

Things like this should be illegal…

Oh, and here’s the logo that was chosen for the same assignment…

Random Song #5

of Montreal - An Eluardian Instance (Live)

One of my favourite songs of the year. This is a live of it (couldn’t find the studio recording on YouTube) before it was titled An Eluardian Instance on of Montreal’s latest album, Skeletal Lamping.
